I have been passionate about hairdressing from a very young age, all my dollies did start with long hair ending with shaved heads. I used to colour their hair with my colouring pens and using coloured chalk.

 My mum used to hide scissors because of my sister`s very short fringes and the cats fur and whiskers also disappearing. I did train as hairdresser at the age of 18 in Portugal for 3 years and did have a job at my auntie`s salon. I later did enrol in a university to study psychology and criminology.

 I came to England in 2001 to work for 6 months to pay for my studies and I met my son`s father. After a few years in England I retrained in hairdressing and got my NVQ2 and managed to get a job in a salon. I grew in the salon, taking part in fashion shows, hairdressing competitions, training staff, being part of the management team and I also achieved a colour masters in the Schwarzkopf academy in London. In 2016 I also had extensive experience in competitions and fashions shows, inclusive of taking part in assisting in London Fashion Week. 

During my career I became poorly and that inspired me to have my own business. I did a lot of research to find a brand that would offer organic, cruelty free and vegan colours and products and eventually I came across OCS. 

In September 2017 I opened my salon, I have created my own hair image collection and in June I was nominated and a finalist for SME National Green Award and this was the beginning of many other awards and so far it’s been 7 years of joy and making happy hair.

I keep myself updated and I attend various courses to offer my clients the best of the best.

I am trained in different hair cutting/colouring/styling techniques, barbering, makeup, social media and marketing and I am also a first aider.

Iam naturally curly and trust me, I understand curls, so if you struggle with your curly/wavy hair, I can help you as I’m a specialist on curly locks.

My salon offers a very unique approach to hairdressing and I work on repairing and helping people to feel and look good about themselves. It’s about the hair but it’s also about the health and well-being of ourselves.

Hair By Carla is a little sanctuary where you can be yourself and feel that it’s just the time it’s only about you.

I am a life and planet lover and my motto is loving what you do and believing in yourself because you are worth it and you deserve it.
